The Unconditional* Acceptance Call

About a month ago, we put out a submission call with more or less one rule, and the rule was for us: We’d accept every single submission we got. Why? We don’t know. Because we’d never it seen it done before (though it may well have been), because it felt like something of a statement (about what, we’re not sure), because it was funny (it was). So we opened wide the gates for 20 brief minutes, and in those 20 minutes we received more than 400 submissions.

We’ve read all 400+ of them. That’s what this is: the product of 60+ hours of reading and formatting. You’ll find in this funny little webpage in this obscure little corner of the internet a galaxy, a constellation of artworks that are surprising, funny, inventive, arresting, head-scratching, spellbinding, moving, electric, unforgettable. We challenged writers to send “whatever,” and they gave us everything.

Thank you, writers. Among your ranks are dozens of nationalities, ages ranging from singles digits to septuagenarians. Fiction writers, essayists, poets, visual artists, anonymous collectives. This is a collaboration, more than anything. A mural of your work on the side of a sidescraper. Or maybe a collage magnet-bound to the fridge. Whatever it is, it’s special. It’s you.
