Time looks down on us, you and I
from his foreign vantage point,
in the vast expanse of sky –
sprawling, spindly limbs, forever moving
to the beat of his once-loved metronome.
He wishes he was us, you and I,
to feel earthly pleasures: to kiss, to dance, to cry,
and waits patiently for the day he will take us.
Until then, let us play underneath this endless sky,
never looking up – just you and I.
